Hello, my name is Christina!
I love to create art in all its forms. I also happen to live with a disease called Myalgic Encephalomyelitis; more commonly known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS). I use my paintings, photography, writing, and art videos, to help raise awareness for this life altering disease. I believe art to be a powerful communicator of experience, and my hope is that my projects reach not only the ME community, but beyond.
Words As Medicine is the central hub for all my socials, so I can share my various projects all from one place.
I now have a Words As Medicine Shop on Redbubble if you’re interested in purchasing any of my work!
If you or a loved one has ME/CFS, the goal of my projects is to bring healing, comfort, and a sense of community to our experiences. I want to normalize and create discussion around the difficult and challenging struggles we face, both within our bodies, and with the outside world because of them. I believe this can help build a stronger sense of unity between us all, and contribute to building a stronger foundation for our advocacy efforts.
When we talk about healing, it is often only referred to in a physical sense — as a precursor to cure. There is another type of healing. It is the healing that takes place when your struggling is validated, seen and heard. It is one that happens when we move closer to each other, and truly listen. It is touching with love what has been touched with shame, stigma, fear and overwhelming loss. This is healing of the heart.
